Diamonds, feathers, and Lizbeth.

On my last off day (I have to be at work at 5:30 a.m tomorrow, damn blogs take so much time), I met with Miss Birdie and her lad and we went to the Maharaja Exhibition at the AGO. Aside from me wanting to be an Indian Princess circa 1765, the exhibition rekindled my love for Indian art and patterns. So much time and detail and creativity goes into each square inch of embellishments, and everything is thoroughly decorated. Where did all these precious gems come from? I wouldn't mind some real diamonds for my turban. and you can never have too many ruby necklaces from Cartier. It's no wonder the first thought that the British had was: MINE. Aside from the whispering jokes, snickering and MINE comments, the beauty of it all was exactly as I imagined. We ended the day in an Indian restaurant with amazing company.
My photo of the exhibition. I think it suffices.
Turkish coffee latte and turkish delight at the Art Square Gallery Cafe.

Happy V-Day! (Vomit Heart Day)

In continuation of off days, I spent Monday with my valentine. It was very anti-hallmark and marvelous. We had sushi from Sushi Bong with their 2" Green Dragons, followed by a really long nap. I got Godiva covered cashews and hot chocolate powder. They have not been documented due to consumption. For dinner we had burgers! Can't go wrong with that, especially with decoration like that! oh my. Midnight trip to METRO proved fruitful (or chocolateful) with Belgium chocolate ice-cream cake that was shared with the fam as desert. It's nice to know you don't need commercialism to enhance your relationship. Happy Love day baby.

I didn't get my peonies. but mum told me not to be a princess, they're not in season. and he did try!

Long weekend

So I had the past four days off. It was amazing. Chyna Doll came from Guelph and we hung out for the weekend. It's nice not to be rushed for work in the morning or be tired as hell when I see her. and she made my weekend   We went to Art Square Cafe on Saturday for some salad and tea. They're having an exhibition by two Persian artists titled 'Two Persians'. The calligraphy work is pretty nicely done. It made me want to start making collages again. I have my own personal calligrapher. Saturday night involved some drunken shenanigans with Gamer Girl and one very creepy waiter. On Sunday we went to Moonbean Cafe which I have never been to, and I had the best latte I have had in a really really long time. It's good to know some independent cafes still make good coffee. Thanks girlies, I needed this.

Cafe La Gaffe.

Had lunch with the Pa today. we went to Cafe La Gaffe on Baldwin. I don't know why I assumed it would be part of Winterlicious, but it was reasonably priced and delish. We got an avocado and brie sandwich, and a salmon and roaster pepper sandwich. I also ordered my Pa's first pint of Creemore and he was a little startled by my beer enthusiasm. We went there because a) it's a super quaint place, and b) they have a wooden mask on their wall amidst their mismatched decoration that is the same style as my Pa's collection. Pa bought his masks over 30 years ago from a family friend and I have grown up with them always hanging somewhere around the house (though they are much smaller). I asked, but they won't sell their giant one. Let me know if you know anything about the style/period/origin and the such! you can see it in the photo.

Bon Appetite!

Rooibos Tea

One of the security guards today gave me a small portion of Rooibos tea. Then he went on to tell me about the two girls who opened their hotel room door in their bra and undies and invited him in (he, of course, undeniably refused, being the gent that he is.) and so we conversed while waiting for Bill Bell at 6:28 in the morning. I brewed the tea in a strainer and poured it into the Moroccan tea cups. My mum said it tastes like tasteless Persian tea. But I like it. it's calming and has hints of chamomile. I strongly suggest the Tazo Vanilla Rooibos tea. A pleasant way to pass Sunday evening, with the cats gallivanting in the kitchen.

Turn my sorrow into a BLOG! ♥

Epic Birthday Party date picked!

So after 8 birthdays together on and off, Feinan and I are throwing an epic joint birthday party! Now, I forgot if it was May 7th of the 14th (even though we decided on it today.) So we shall let  you know, and you shall BOOK IT OFF. and no one is allowed to partake in any other activity during that day in case it gets prolonged and puts your attendance in jeopardy. Unless I don't like you, in which case you won't be invited anyway so feel free to spend your Saturday at your own leisure!! I'm thinking of asking Brian for his party room. I haven't asked him yet, so if he read this before I get to ask him, Brian can we have your party room for a night?
